Information and Communication Technologies ICTs has added value to the servicesrnprovided by Nigerian libraries.This study investigated the application and use of Informationrnand Communication Technologies ICTs in academic libraries in Nigeria: A case study ofrnRamat Library University of Maiduguri RLUM. It focused on ICT facilities available in thernRLUM Library ascertained usage of ICT facilities in offering Library services andrnchallenges of using ICTS in the Library to provide library services. The study employed arnqualitative research methodology in which interview and observation guides were used torncollect data from 10 respondents that included 2 Heads of Sections five academic librariansrnand three ICT staff. In general the studys findings revealed that a majority of the libraryrnstaff are less skilled in the usage of ICTs facilities available in the library. The findingsrnfurther revealed that ICTs is used to offer few library services at RLUM Library. Thesernservices include: virtual desk services provision of electronic resources and databases chatrnwith a librarian literature searches ask a librarian collection development and establishingrninstitutional repositories. However the study revealed some challenges such as fundingrnerratic power supply and lack of on the job training of staff as hindrance to the optimumrnapplication and use of these ICTs facilities in providing library services. Therefore AdequaternFunding of the library provision of stable power supply and adequate training of libraryrnstaff on using the ICTs facilities would boost the application and use of ICTs in the library.
